Biography

Picture of Minty

Cookstown based singer Minty has been performing since the age of 10. It is only recently that he has received the type of notoriety usually associated with performers such as Bryan Adams and Robbie Williams. This has come about with the impending release of his first solo single.

Born in 1981 to parents Kevin and Helen Quinn, Minty quickly showed a passion for the stage when he performed at concerts, musicals and, pantomimes at St Pius’s X High School in Magherafelt. Minty covers the classic song "My Town". Though only a minor hit in the U.K for Canadian rock band "Glass Tiger" the song became a huge smash in the U.S.A and Canada and many other parts of the globe. He hopes that his version will give the song the recognition it deserves on this side of the Atlantic some twenty years on.

Filled with undertones of Irish melodies and infectious lyrics the song will appeal to all, young and old. This talented vocalist captures the essence of the song with a huskiness that could only be compared to the likes of Joe Cocker and Rod Stewart.

"My Town" tells of a young mans journey as he leaves Nova Scotia in Canada to find pastures green. Years on, the young man dreams of returning home and, recalls his experiences with the most enduring of lyrics. The song has already been a hit on the local airwaves, being playlisted by most local radio stations including Cool FM, Mid 106 and many others.

In conjunction with "My Town" Minty is also releasing a classic song "It Isn’t Gonna Be That Way". The song is almost thirty years old and was written and performed by American singer Steve Forbert on an album entitled "Alive On Arrival". With two extraordinary tracks, expect Minty to storm onto the music scene in 2006.

Minty was discovered after performing at a local Cookstown Bar "The Railway" in 2005 and has received much support by other local nightspots such as Dormans (Magherafelt), The Conway Inn (Cookstown) and, McAleers (Dungannon).

Managed by Worldpop Records a local based record company under the guidance of Andy Ruck and Paul McKenna, Minty’s future can only be one of promise as he continues to record the most amazing songs which will appear on his forthcoming album.

The two main tracks will also be supported by acoustic versions and a dance mix of "My Town", remixed by DJ Static.

The album is being produced by Paul MCNeilly at P.I.C studios in Ballymena and will hit the shops sometime in the Summer of 2006.
