Yet again, local singer Minty delivers a song with unrivalled passion.

"Postcard From Heaven", written by Andy Ruck, pays tribute to Cookstown man "Connor Keightley" who tragically lost his life in the Asian Tsunami in 2004.

Shortly before Boxing day Connor sent 4 Postcards to friends and family from the island of Kho Chang, Thailand. Each Postcard told of Connor’s plans for Christmas and New Year. He talked of the beauty of the islands, the lovely Thai people and the wonderful time he was having.

The first postcard arrived at his sister, Darina’s home in America shortly before Christmas. Two more arrived at his friend, George’s home and that of his parents Teresa and Dermot in Cookstown in January 2005.

In February, following an intimate conversation with Connor at his grave asking "Where’s My Postcard?", his sister Michelle returned home to be met by a postman coming up the driveway with the long awaited Christmas message on the final postcard.

The song relates the experiences of a traveller who is on his final journey to heaven. It is the heartfelt belief of Connor’s family that he was living out his dream experiencing some of the most amazing wonders of the world. He lived life to the full and made so many friends the world over; a testament demonstrated by the mass of beautiful cards, letters and, emails received at the Keightley family home in Cookstown.

"Postcard From Heaven" is a dedicated memorial to the wonderful person that Connor is. It talks of those who mourn his loss and feel the void. There was so much more for Connor to accomplish on this earth but the comfort that he was able to be found and brought home enables those left behind to try and deal with the most unimaginable distress that the Tsunami caused to so many families, worldwide. There is no doubt that Connor has reached his final destination in Paradise.
